A huge congratulations to Scoil Mhuire Lourdes choir and band who performed at the Córfhéile in the City Hall on Tuesday 20th March last. A very enjoyable night was had by all involved! The band were up first with ‘Ho la hi’, ‘An t-Úll’ and ‘Country Roads’. Luke Barry, a sixth class student from Ms. Byrne’s class, gave a beautiful rendition of the song ‘The Rose’, accompanied by the school band.
The choir performed ‘Down by the River’, a traditional song ‘Cailín Álainn’ and a rousing version of ‘Battle Hymn of the Republic’ (better known as Glory Glory Hallelujah)! They were very well received by the audience who joined with members of the choir in singing the final chorus of the song. The boys put in weeks of hard work and practice in preparation for the big night. It was an honour for them to participate in the Córfhéile, which has become over the years such a well-loved tradition in Cork. The most important aspect of the Córfhéile is that it is non-competitive. It is a celebration of the many talents of Cork Primary School children of whom the parents and teachers alike, can be justifiably proud.
The band leader Ms. Byrne and the Choir teachers Ms. Collins and Ms. Daly would like to take this opportunity to thank the boys for their brilliant performances and excellent behaviour throughout the night. A huge thank you to all who supported the boys at the concert.
Comhgairdeachas!

The highlight of last years season was the Cross Border Schools Concert held in the city hall. The boys performed along with a number of other school and they were conducted by the renowned Gearoid Grant
