On the 16th of May 2013, Mr. Griffin, Mr. Martin and three members of the Green School Committee went to the Silver Springs Hotel to receive our third Green Flag for reducing and conserving the amount of water used in the school. The Green School Committee and the school community worked tirelessly to rise awareness about the importance of water to our lives. A water action day, installation of new taps and having a poster competition are just some of the actions that were implemented in our school throughout the year. We are looking forward to raising our third flag and continuing the great work of the Green Schools Project.
Our school has flourished in becoming an environmentally friendly school but the work is not complete yet! It was a joyous occasion when our school attained the second Green Flag after the diligent work done by everyone in the school, especially the Green School Committee. This year we will be setting up a new committee and our focus will be upon reducing and conserving the amount of water we use. Furthermore, we will be maintaining our progress in reducing the amount of litter we produce and conserving the energy we use.
Planting trees in Scoil Mhuire Lourdes.
For National Tree Day we were given the opportunity to plant a new tree on the school grounds. The Green Team helped plant the tree and we hope to see it grow and flourish throughout the years to come.
Giving a helping hand to Carrigaline Tidy Towns Committee.
Mr. Allen’s 5th class went with a representative from An Taisce and a member from the Tidy Towns Committee to help clean up the Ballea Road. The children had litter pickers and bags to collect any litter that was on the footpath and the surrounding area. We managed to collect a lot of rubbish and we were delighted to help to keep Carrigaline tidy.
