Active School Committee 2017/2018

Our Active Flag committee consists of 22 pupils, from 1st class upwards. Here is a list of their responsibilities.

  1. The active committee meets and discuss our progress and makes future plans.
  2. Our active committee ensures  that our PE press is as it should be.
  3. They also update the active school board and check the suggestion box.
  4. In January our Active Committee conducted a survey to see what clubs we are part of. 
  5. They run all competions and surveys needed for Active Flag.
  6. They relay messages back to all classes via the intercom system.
  7. They help organise Active Schools Week

 

One of first tasks this year was to conduct a club survey. Here are all the clubs in our area.

Pupils who take part in physical activity and their achievements are recognised in our school on our Facebook page. Teams often speak in assembly about their achievements; pupils visit classrooms showing their silverware.

We are very lucky to have built up solid partnerships with the GAA and we are very grateful to our coach Brendan O’ Driscoll who coaches us in hurling and football all year round. 

 

This year we began a new initiative with Carrigaline Utd Soccer club. We welcome Jamie from the FAI who spent six weeks with us! Here is is putting our students through their paces!

 

 

Our local rugby club have also worked with us this year. We welcomed Vincent who has word very hard with the boys from 4th- 6th!

 

 

We were extremely lucky to create a partnership with Carrigaline gymnastics club, Gymnastics Inc. Dan and Colin came to our school and showed us how strong we really are! Here is a photo of the boys learning how to land.

 

Yoga was introduced this year to enhance the boys development in the area of gymnastics and to promote over all well being for our boys. .We are very lucky to have wonderful parents who give their time and share their talents with us
