Active School Week

Because the children will be working so hard next week for Active School Week, we will only be giving Active Homework. The time will depend on what class your son is in.
We were very fortunate to have the Principal of Brightlights studios Mr. Stephen Cullinane O’ Regan with us during Active Flag week. Here he is with the whole school showing off all their hard work!

Day 1

Active Flag week is finally here and is already in full swing. This morning Mr. Collins facilitated Olympic Handball workshops for 1st 2nd and 3rd. Mr. O’ Halloran put ,4th, 5th and 6th class through their paces with a gymnastic circuit. Mr. Coughlan’s 6th class are organising a Spikeball work shop for 4th, 5th and 6th this afternoon. We look forward to a fun filled week! Stay tuned for daily updates!

Day 1 also saw our infants embracing the world of cycling!

Day 2

Day 2 of Active School week brought a visit from Ciarán O’ Sullivan who recently got his first cap with the Irish Basketball team. 4th 5th and 6th class were the lucky ones receiving some fantastic coaching from the basketball star. Thank you Ciarán!

Carole Sexton from Carrigaline Basketball visited us with her daughter Kelly and worked with 1st and 3rd classes.

Our final visitors today were Belgooly Athletic Club! Our students got the opportunity to practice hurdling, long jump, javelin and shot put. Our thanks to coaches Danny, Glory, Timmy, Caitríona, Aisling and John from Belgooly AC.

Day 3
Soccer Marathon

Ballea Park was our venue on Day 3, where all classes participated in a Soccer marathon organised by the Parents Association

Day 4

This morning we held a gymnastics workshop with Colm and Adam from Gymnastics Inc. Our students learned how to land, how to do a forward roll and were treated to some wonderful and inspirational front flips.

We also welcomed Martin and Lisa who did a movement workshop with the boys!

Day 5
Our last day of our Active Flag week brought Rugby workshops for Ist and 3rd thanks to Vincent! Ms. O’ Connell created a fun obstacle course for the boys to enjoy! Finally, Stephen Cullinane O’Regan from Brightlights studios came and put the boys through their paces with a musical theatre workshop! It has been a fantastic week which encouraged our students to be more active more often! From all involved in the Active Flag initiative, thank you all for being such wonderful participants and have a fun, safe and ACTIVE summer!
